In the months after birth, so much care flows toward the baby — and so little is left for the one who carried them. Yet a mother is being remade in this season too, in body, in identity, in her sense of who she now is.
Postnatal work is close to the heart of my practice. We make a space where a mother can be tended rather than tending, where the exhaustion and the tenderness and the grief for an old life can all be spoken without apology.
The techniques I use are gentle and safe for this time — nothing invasive, nothing demanding. Often it is simply the experience of being held, of having her own nervous system soothed, that allows a mother to soften back into herself.
You do not have to have it all together to deserve care. The season is asking a great deal of you. Let some care flow back the other way.
